Cancer is a kind of disease wherein a group of cells grow uncontrollably inside your body and invade your tissues, which spread out at times in different parts of your body called metastasis. These are three of the malignant kinds of cancers that distinguish themselves from benign tumors. Benign tumors are self-limited and they don’t invade or metastasize. Cancers are mostly formed by a tumor, but there is also Leukemia that doesn’t have tumor growths because the cancer is in the blood itself. Oncology is a branch of medicine, which is responsible in studying, diagnosing, treating and preventing cancer.

Some of the types of cancer include lung cancer, thyroid cancer, leukemia, skin cancer (non-melanoma), kidney (renal cell) cancer, prostate cancer, endometrial cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon and rectal cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, breast cancer, melanoma and bladder cancer. There are more types of cancer and this list is just the most common ones. They can start in any tissue part of your body. It may affect one tissue but won’t affect the other.

Cancer can have an effect on just about every organ in the human body. Cancer can affect parts of the body such as the heart and the eyes. Each type of cancer is only one of its kinds with its own symptoms, causes and forms of treatment. Like with other groups of disease, there are types of cancer that are more widespread than others.

Some general vague symptoms of cancer include persistent fatigue, unintentional weight loss, pain, fever, bowel changes and chronic coughing. These symptoms have been experienced by most people with cancer at various stages of their disease, but are also connected to many other non-cancerous conditions. It doesn’t mean that when you have two of the symptoms above, then you have cancer, it doesn’t work like that. You have to get a specialist to check you up when you experience such symptoms, so they can give you an accurate diagnosis.
